Southwark Sinfonia

ACCESSIBLE • COMMUNITY • FAMILY FRIENDLY

Southwark Sinfonia orchestra (SSO) was set up with supports from Verdandi Camerata to bring music activities to Southwark and the neighbouring boroughs. We are a professional community orchestra, a not-for-profit organisation founded in 2009, made up of professional musicians and instrumental tutors from across London's East and South Eastern boroughs. We give one concert each school term, providing top quality classical concerts for the whole families, hence our concert are never too long and always on a Sunday late afternoon. More below.

More About SSO

OPEN REHEARSAL • CONDUCTING • NORWEGIAN WAFFLES

Southwark Sinfonia concerts includes an open rehearsal where the audience is led through a concise guide of the music being performed. Children and parents are then invited to conduct the orchestra.

The full performance concludes the concert after a short interval where musicians and audience mingle.

We aim for excellent blend of professionalism and young talents. As a tradition, selected music students including London's top 4 music colleges are invited to join our rank, many of these would later return to lend their support as working, young professionals.

At SSO, promoting culture is our first priority. We believe music makes positive and lasting influence to people’s live which reaches beyond the concert halls. Through our performances and open rehearsals we hope to make a difference within the community.
